Meet Harlon Reece...
Harlon Reece was born in a two-room tenant house on a farm in West Texas. His father was a tenant farmer otherwise know as a “sharecropper.” Harlon earned a scholarship to attend Wayland College where he graduated with a B. A. in music education. Shortly after graduating from college, he began a career as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. His assignments included a variety of command and management positions and a tour in combat during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star with V device.
While serving in Vietnam, Harlon was selected for graduate study at the American University in Washington, D.C., where he earned his M.S. degree in management technology. He completed his Marine Corps career in 1978, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and began a second career in business. He was a division vice president in a computer services firm until his 2nd retirement in 1996.
Harlon and his spouse Midge moved into their historic old home on Elden Street in 1988 and immediately got involved in local civic and government activities. Harlon is currently a fourth-term member of the Herndon Town Council.
